Murder on the Strike of Five: Russia 1917 is a highly atmospheric murder mystery, with wonderful twists and turns.
There are distinct echoes of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express in M P Peacock’s Murder on the Strike of Five, set on a train journey through freezing Siberia during the early 20th century. When a murderer strikes, one of the first class passengers is the likely perpetrator. But many have their own secrets to hide.
Fans of Agatha Christie may also recall to mind another couple of works, which I won’t mention for fear of spoiling the plot.
Suffice it to say that this mystery has a wonderfully classic feel, and will appeal both to readers of contemporary murder mystery as well as fans of vintage British classics. There’s a very satisfying ending.
